Russell Crowe Brings His Sons to 'The Mummy' Premiere in Sydney

Russell Crowe had two very special dates to Tuesday night's premiere of The Mummy at Sydney's State Theatre: sons Tennyson and Charles!

Both boys walked proudly down the carpet with their father and waited patiently in the background while Russell, 53, did dozens of media interviews.

While Charlie, 13, declined to pose for photos with his dad on the carpet, 10-year-old Tennyson took a series of snaps with his movie star dad.

Russell, who shares the boys with his estranged wife Danielle Spencer, told TheFIX it was "really special" to have them by his side for the premiere.

"I hope it's really scary, and I hope they get a bit of a laugh out of it every now and then, and I hope that it thrills them," he told TheFIX. "I specifically haven't seen the movie because I promised I'd see it with them."

Danielle, 48, posed for photos separately, but did not walk the carpet with Russell and the boys.

Still, the outspoken Oscar winner admitted it was a risk to bring his offspring to a an unscreened film.

"The first time I watch a film, I can be kind of, like, a bit weird. It's like Pavlov's dogs," he laughed. "I start going back through the sequences."

Universal's monster action flick is a reimagining of the orginal 1932 The Mummy, starring Boris Karloff, and it marks the first time Russell has worked with friend and fellow superstar Tom Cruise.

"I am kind of surprised [it took this long]," he admitted. "You look back on it, and you go, really? It took us that long? I mean, we met in '92 and one of the first conversations that we had was, 'When should we work together?'

"It's just been one of those things, but I think this is the perfect place for it, in reality…It’s the perfect time to do it."
