Boy George is a big fan of Shonda Rhimes — he's just not always sure which Shondaland show he's watching.

In fact, the Voice Australia coach watched Seasons 1 and 2 of How To Get Away With Murder before he realised it was not, in fact, Scandal.

"I had heard Scandal was amazing," he tells TheFIX of how the incredible mix-up happened. "So we started from the beginning, and I was like, Oh my god, Scandal is so good.'"

Yes, there were signs the show that Boy George was watching may not have been Scandal.

"We wondered why it kept saying 'How to get away with murder,'" he says laughing. "And then two seasons in, someone was like, 'This isn't Scandal.'"

Scandal follows high-powered "fixer" Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) as she handles major scandals – and murders! -- in Washington, DC. How to Get Away with Murder, meanwhile, follows defence law professor Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) as she handles major murders -- and scandals! -- in Philadelphia.

And yet, the 56-year-old singer and his viewing companions persevered.

"We finally realised we were watching the wrong show, but we were in it, so now we're going to finish it," he says.

"We could have abandoned it, but Viola Davisis so good. That show, everyone's a murderer. It's just the maddest thing! But Frank (Charlie Weber) — wow. Obsessed with Frank. Oh my god, how hot is Frank? Literally, Frank is so hot."

And once he finishes all four seasons of How To Get Away with Murder, George has his next binge all lined up: "I'm going to watch Scandal."

The British star has his hands full at the moment with his Season 7 coaching duties on The Voice Australia.

"Doing last season, I got my head around things, and by the end of the show, I started to understand more about how they do it here in Australia," he says. "It's about singing, but it's also about the personal journey of the singer, and people want to invest in that person."
