Joe Jonas Explains His New Tattoo and That Jonas Brothers Reunion Tease

Joe Jonas did not come to play.

The 28-year-old joins returning coaches Boy GeorgeKelly Rowland, and Delta Goodrem for Season 7 of The Voice Australia (premiering this Sunday) and quickly shook up the panel.

"Obviously, the first thing I did was go online and look up his astrology," Boy George tells TheFIX. "Joe's a lion, a Leo, so he's very confident and laidback."

Just don't underestimate that cool exterior: Rowland dubbed Jonas the "silent sniper" for his tendency to quietly swoop in on great talent.

"There are moments on the show when, yes, I've had to use some trickery," the DNCE frontman laughs. "I'm smiling most of the time, but I have my game face on."

Jonas sat down with TheFIX's Ashley Spencer in Sydney to talk about life in the swivel chair, the inspiration behind his new tattoo (hint: it's not fiancée Sophie Turner), and when we'll finally get a Jonas Brothers reunion.

You're the new coach on the block this season, but you and Delta already had a connection from when she dated your younger brother Nick a few years ago.
It's been great. She's been able to give me advice on what to do and how the show works. We have a very brother-sister relationship where we can tease each other and mess with each other, and I feel comfortable. We have those moments where it can get heated, but, along with the other coaches, we have that dynamic where I feel like it's one big family. There are moments that we're barking at each other. There are moments that we're laughing and having a good time.

What are you looking for in your team?
I don't want just young pop stars. I love all different kinds of music – country music, gospel music, funk, R&B, rap, whatever it may be. So, I want an eclectic group of people, and I think we're at a really solid place on Team Joe.

How are you settling into life in Australia?
I feel like I'm home. It's a little bit far away from everything, but I like that because it makes me want to focus on the show and get to know Sydney as best as I can. And I feel pretty good about learning the city by myself. I bike around a lot.

The food, the people, the coffee – it's so good. I stick to a latte, but there are some fancy milks you guys have out here that I've been trying. [laughs] It can sound like L.A. all over again. And you can't beat the weather. Even when it's raining, it's still gorgeous to me. I love it here.

You've already convinced Nick to visit. Any chance he'll appear on The Voice?
That was really fun. We had a good week together, and he's going to try to come back, hopefully, for the live shows. I love what I did in the states where I mentored Adam Levine's team [on The Voice US]. It would be cool to do that with Nick or my band and bring them out to advise mine.

Fans are pretty convinced your new arm tattoo is of Sophie. So, what is the truth?
There's a lot of speculation of who or what it is. It's quite funny and a little disappointing probably for a lot of fans of my fiancée that it's really just a picture of nothing. The artist that I got tattooed by [Curt Montgomery] is a friend and did this amazing drawing. He had it sketched up, and I was like, oh that's cool. I'll pick that. So, there's not anybody that I'd say it is, but eventually I'll come up with a name for her. For now, she's a mystery.

Will Sophie join you in Australia?
Hopefully! I would like that. She's busy, obviously, with working on her show [as Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones]. But she sees it all through FaceTime and is very jealous. She would love some sun and be able to come out here and enjoy it. Towards the end when we're doing the live shows, hopefully, fingers crossed, she can come out for a few days.

Finally, after the Jonas Brothers Instagram appeared to mysteriously reactivate earlier this year, reunion rumours went wild. Is there any hope?
You know what's funny? Everyone thinks the Instagram was reactivated, but I think it was just there and nobody cared about it. Maybe it got the little blue [verified] icon eventually? I don't really know what happened. Long story short, I would love it down the road if the time was right. There's no promises, and we don't really know exactly if it's going to happen or not. But you never know. Never say never. As of right now, we're all individually doing our own thing and supporting from afar but… We are family, so it's easy to call each other up and keep the options open.
